Hello, Friends, and Happy “For Love-of-Arts Month”!

Here it is February, and our city has proclaimed its annual month-long celebration of the arts. The Friends of Chamber Music is proud to be affiliated with “ArtForms”, the organization which organizes all the special activities, and to be participating in this month’s roster of exciting events!

Our part of the festivities kicked off on Monday evening with a spectacular concert by cellist, Evan Drachman and pianist, Richard Dowling! Between musical selections, Drachman (the grandson of renowned cellist, Gregor Piatigorsky) shared stories about his famous Grandfather. The enthusiastic audience hated to have the evening come to an end! We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with our friends at Good Samaritan Village, KRWG-FM, and with the Piatigorsky Foundation and look forward to other collaborations in the future!

Coming up on the 16th is our elegant Victorian Tea! It will be a delightful afternoon of sumptuous tea, scones, sandwiches, and desserts along with lovely music, and will serve as a Fundraiser for our organization. There will also be a Silent Auction. Tickets are $30 each, and must be purchased in advance. Tea will be served at the beautiful Victorian Tea House, 1605 S. Main, at 3 PM on the 16th. Tickets are available at the Tea House or by giving me a call at 523-7714. Don’t miss this opportunity to pamper yourself and your Valentine, as well as to help support our organization!

We’ll wind up “For Love-of-Art” Month featuring student ensembles from the local High Schools. Because our organization is committed to helping young musicians further their musical skills, we will support their efforts by providing Master Classes, free of charge, in preparation for Ensemble Festival. In addition to helping equip students to excel at that event, we are sponsoring a Student Recital which will showcase several of the groups we have worked with. Your attendance at that event would be a great encouragement to these young people: 7:00 PM; Sunday, February 24; at Good Samaritan.
